“Det var tre saker som fick mig att välja det här jobbet. Northmills imponerande resa till att bli ett stort och lönsamt bolag, visionen om att förbättra människors finansiella liv som verkligen tilltalade mig, och de höga ambitionerna om fortsatt tillväxt”, säger Julie Chatterjee. Hon har tillbringat sin karriär i kommersiella roller inom bank och finans, men har en bakgrund som civilingenjör från KTH.
Chatterjees erfarenhet sträcker sig från att bygga upp bankverksamhet från grunden till att leda tekniska plattformar för snabb tillväxt. Hon har tidigare även varit vd för OKQ8 Bank. Northmill, med huvudkontor i Stockholm, har i dag fler än en halv miljon privatkunder. Det senaste året har bolaget utvidgat sitt B2B-erbjudande med bland annat företagslån riktade till småföretag. 
”Northmill har byggt upp en stark grund och strömlinjeformad infrastruktur som gör oss snabba och anpassningsbara. Nu är det dags att fortsätta kommersialisera de produkter och tjänster vi har utvecklat”, säger Chatterjee. ”Vi ska använda teknik för att skapa en sömlös upplevelse som verkligen förbättrar kundernas finansiella liv”.
Sverige är Northmills huvudmarknad i dag. Bolaget har även filialer i Finland och Polen. Banken erbjuder bland annat betalkort, sparkonton och lån för privatpersoner, samt lån, Swishbetalningar och kassasystem för företag. Chatterjee ser stor potential i att göra Northmills erbjudande tillgängligare för både befintliga och nya kunder.
Hon inspireras av företag som Apple, Spotify och IKEA – bolag som har revolutionerat sina marknader genom innovation, teknik och fortsatt vara relevanta genom ständig utveckling och anpassning. ”Vi ska också vara ett företag som människor inte kan föreställa sig att vara utan, genom att erbjuda lösningar som förenklar och förbättrar deras vardag”, säger hon. “Vi är ett högpresterande techbolag när det gäller att utveckla nya produkter snabbt, där har vi en stark konkurrensfördel mot storbankerna. Samtidigt behöver vi bli ännu bättre på kundupplevelsen”, fortsätter Chatterjee.
Som ledare tror hon på en inkluderande kultur och kraften i kollektiv intelligens. ”Jag vill ge mina medarbetare stort ansvar och stödja dem i att nå våra gemensamma mål”, säger hon. ”Det är viktigt att vi fortsätter att vårda och utveckla Northmills kultur. Samtidigt som vi mognar ska vi behålla nybyggarandan. Jag är otroligt imponerad av den energi och framåtanda som finns här”.
Northmill grundades 2006 och 2019 erhöll bolaget svenskt banktillstånd. Bolaget har vid två tillfällen rankats som ett av Europas snabbast växande företag av Financial Times.

Julie Chatterjee ny VD för Northmill Bank

Den svenska banken Northmill har flerfaldigt rankats av Financial Times som ett av Europas snabbast växande företag. Nu har bolaget, med över en halv miljon svenska kunder, utsett Julie Chatterjee till ny vd. Hon har senast varit vice vd och Chief Commercial Officer för Multitude Bank och ingått i koncernledningen för fintech-bolaget Multitude, noterat på Frankfurtbörsen.

<h3 class="heading -third">- Tord Topsholm will take the neobank to the next level </h3>
The neobank Northmill, which has the vision of improving people's financial life, appoints Tord Topsholm as the new CEO. Tord has extensive experience of leading positions in the banking and technology sector, in Sweden as well as internationally. Among other things, he has been Head of Product and Marketing at the Telecom giant BT, Chief Operating Officer at Entercard and CEO at Catella Bank. Most recently, Tord was the CEO of Avida Finans and, under his leadership, it grew and scaled up in several countries. His main task at Northmill will be to continue launching new products that customers love and accelerate the growth journey.
Tord Topsholm, CEO at Northmill Bank comments: “To take over as CEO of Northmill is very exciting because the neobank has the opportunity to do something really, really great. Northmill is in the middle of the strong change that is currently taking place in the fintech market, which is all about being able to find new business models at the focal point between the digital and the personal. I have never seen a company so well equipped for this change. Northmill has a unique position as a deeply technology-driven company, with profitability and its own banking license -  all while still growing. This makes it possible to challenge what banking is about, namely the customer's personal experience and needs. The time when a bank can tell the customer what they need is over. The customers lead the way now.”
The departing CEO and co-founder, Hikmet Ego, who will continue being involved at Northmill as Chief Information Officer, CIO, comments on the appointment of Tord:

His drive, technology and product expertise, along with his strong strategic business mindset, are exactly what we need to accelerate our growth journey further. He is used to working closely and directly with customers, and understands the value of listening to their feedback. This is how we will continue to build our offer — together with the customers. Northmill aims for geographical expansion and several exciting product launches in the near future.
Tord comments: “The development of our new card is a good example of modern product development, where end users are a natural part of the process. That's how I like to work. Release a first version, test and receive feedback, and then continue to develop at a fast pace, always being close to the users working with them. Northmill has managed to find a golden combination between the personal and the digital. <h1 class="heading -main">New CEO at Northmill Bank</h1>

Northmill appoints Tord Topsholm as the new CEO. Tord has extensive experience of leading positions in the banking and technology sector.

Neobank Northmill, which has the vision to improve financial life, has recruited Johan Nordström as the bank’s new Chief Credit Officer. Johan has broad experience from both the finance and tech sectors. Among others, he held various roles for five years at GE Money Bank and following that he spent another five years at Nordax Bank, where he was leading the analytics and credit department. Most recently, Johan comes from the role as Chief Credit Officer at Rocker. Hikmet Ego, co-founder and CEO at Northmill Bank comments: “It feels great to welcome Johan to Northmill. He will contribute with experience, knowledge and great energy to an important function in the bank at a time when a lot of exciting things are happening, both at Northmill and in the fintech sector as a whole. We are building a bank together with our customers and it puts its stamp on our growth journey. I am convinced that Johan will fit right in and play an important role in continuing to develop Northmill.”

The fintech sector continues to grow fast, both in Stockholm and internationally, and is challenging many parts of the traditional industry. The credit and analytics part of the market is no exception. 
 Johan Nordström comments: “Personally, it is inspiring to operate in such important areas as credit and analytics, and contribute to creating as safe and good products as possible for the consumers. Historically, credit products have looked pretty much the same and it has not been obvious that the foundation has been the consumers and their experiences. Today, luckily, that has started to change and  I believe such a product as Northmill Reduce, which helps people lower their cost on existing credits, is a great example of this exact change towards uncompromised customer focus. That is also why Northmill is the right place to be for me.”

<h1 class="heading -main">New Chief Credit Officer at Northmill</h1>

Neobank Northmill has recruited Johan Nordström as the bank’s new Chief Credit Officer.

Meet Nathalie Pace in an interview about working at Northmill, how to eat the best pasta and the mix of two cultures from different parts of the world. 
If you take a walk from Stockholm to Sicily, it will take a little over 500 hours to reach the charming part of Italy where our product specialist Nathalie Pace has her roots. Partly because you’ll get kind of tired, but also due to the pandemic, you might prefer to join us when asking here about that place rather than walking there.
- My father is from Sicily, I have a big family and an important part of my life there, even though I have never lived there. The culture is special to me.
<h3>Let’s say we are hungry. What do we eat there?</h3>
- Pasta alla Norma is my absolute favorite. Typical for Italian food, it is simple, yet the taste is lovely. It contains the Italian cheese ricotta, red tomatoes and aubergines. Together with fresh pasta, it’s just amazing.

 Nathalie Pace has been working at Northmill for three years. As a product specialist in one of the Product Teams, PFM (Personal Financial Management), she basically provides users the tools to be in control of their personal finances by evening out highs and lows of monthly cash flows.
- Working at Northmill means being able to create modern unique financial services. We do that by working in autonomous product teams, utilizing new technology and data to support customer centric initiatives. Being able to contribute to this development motivates me.
<h3>How are you keeping the balance between creating something new and still creating something that the customer recognizes?</h3>
- New does not necessarily mean the customer will not recognize it. I think recognition is based on a feeling that something is known, controllable and secure. We don't compromise on these keystones, but on top of it, we add new values. This allows us to develop creative products that bring value, but do not compromise on the customers’ needs.
Currently, Nathalie’s team consists of her as a product specialist, a product manager and a fullstack developer. The team is one of the reasons that she enjoys working at Northmill.
- I like the people, the teams we create and the way we work together. We put high standards on what we produce but still have fun along the way. The teamspirit is great and we value the expertise of every single person working a team.
<h3>So if you could describe Northmill in three words…?</h3>
- A second family. Creative. High-performing.
"I’m a bit more Italian in Sweden and a bit more Swede in Italy."
 Speaking of high-performing, the pandemic has kind of forced Nathalie to explore different parts of herself since she didn’t have the possibility and pleasure to travel.
- I have realized that I like to grow plants and spend time on handicrafts. Last summer I had tomato plants on my balcony, they gave me amazing tomatoes. I also enjoy building things, such as the IKEA-drawer I hacked to hide my workstation when working from home during the pandemic. It's totally hidden now except for when I choose to open the drawer, pull out the shelf with my keyboard and start using the screen. It turned out great!
<h3>Let’s say that you could travel to any place in the world without bringing your camera…</h3>
- I would go to Sicily. It has such a special place in my heart. You will have so much to see and make memories that you can’t even capture on camera as you meet the people, eat the food and enjoy the beautiful environment.
<h3>When you are in Sweden - do you feel more Italian or more Swede?</h3>
- Here, people around me see me as more of an Italian, but when I’m in Italy, they tell me that I am the Swede in the group. I’m a bit in between - a bit more Italian here and a bit more Swede there.
<h3>Is that a good thing or a bad thing?</h3>
- The mixture is always good. I can bring different parts of my personality in different situations and I think that’s positive.
"At Northmill, there are many people from different cultures and parts of the world."
 This summer, Nathalie will graduate with a master degree in Computer and Systems Sciences from Stockholm University, along with being an important piece of the Northmill-puzzle. And as a person speaking Swedish, Italian and English, she believes that a company can thrive thanks to diversity.
- At Northmill, there are many people from different cultures and parts of the world. I don’t know how many nationalities we have here, but I have learned so much about the world just by sitting in the kitchen and speaking with my colleagues. It’s not a homogeneous group of people.
<h3>Does this sort of stimulate the creativity at Northmill?</h3>
- Definitely. We bring ideas from our personal lives, backgrounds and experiences. It is important to merge different people to ensure that we create diverse products, since the customer is not a homogeneous person. This is particularly valuable if we aim to grow internationally, which we do.
It might be far from Stockholm to Sicily, but nothing unites two parts of the world more than a person being able to capture them, balance them - and share them. There is no need to walk more than 500 hours. Nathalie Pace can teach us instead, before rounding up with some quick answers to quick questions.

Favourite book? As I am a student, I unfortunately don’t have much spare time to spend on reading books. But a really interesting report that enlightened me recently was the ”Banking on Climate Change - Fossil Fuel Finance Report 2020”.

Coffee or tea? Coffee.
The forest or the beach? The forest.
Messi or Ronaldo? Messi.
Al Pacino or Robert De Niro? De Niro.
Favorite team in sports? Italy on an international level, Catania as a club.
Would you rather look in the future or change the past? Change the past. Humanity has made some really messy mistakes when it comes to the environment. By changing them, we would be in a better place now. Also, looking into the future is a sad concept. That means I have nothing to look forward to, nothing that I am able to affect with my actions. Now I feel that I can change what is to come. If I could look into the future, I would just sit here and wait for it to happen. So - I would rather change the past and know that the present would be a bit better than what it is today.
